Scots Pine

Much of Finland is covered in forest, where there isn’t water you can pretty much guarantee that there are trees. It is an iconic, extreme, landscape with a measurable resonance: The existence of the forests has shaped our economy, our lifestyle, our culture.

Sustainability

We have chosen to focus on a single material that is locally abundant. Our range is made entirely from Scots Pine, which is the most populous tree in Finland, making up approximately 44% of all forests. We have chosen the material based on opportunity and locality, not fashion.

Makers

We work with a small number of expert Finnish makers. These are established factories specialising in a particular kind of manufacturing and larger scale production, or they are small workshops and individual craftspeople.
